Where are you located?
Vanilla Orchid is located in a full-size commercial kitchen at 7433 Burnet Rd. We provide food catering, alcohol catering, and bar services in the greater Austin area and travel outside Austin for special events.

What do you serve?
We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a variety of presentations, including: hot, cold, savory and sweet hors d'oeuvres, a la carte items, platters, boxed lunches, chef action appetizers and carving stations, entrees, buffets, cakes and desserts. We can provide any level of catering service from a simple drop off in disposable pans to a fully staffed event.

Do you provide alcohol?
Yes, Vanilla Orchid provides a fully managed bar service for events and festivals of all shapes and sizes. we w be able to purchase and serve alcohol at your event. We are happy to help you customize your drink menu with recommended selections as well as provide mixers.

Vanilla Orchid is fully licensed and insured with a TABC mixed-beverage permit allowing us to serve and sell alcohol for your event. We provide a wide range of alcohol catering options including full-bar services or just beer and wine. Every catering event bartender is TABC certified, trained, and professionally vetted by Vanilla Orchid. But we don't just provide bartenders, we also bring alcohol purchased legally through our many TABC suppliers. In addition, we file a Temporary Alcohol Permit for every single event (required by TABC law) ensuring alcohol is served safely and legally.

Do you specialize in any one type of cuisine?
Our chefs craft menus that bring a modern accessibility to classic fine dining. In short, we specialize in Upscale Southern Comfort. Our custom menus represent a variety of influences that give home-style favorites a fresh, elegant twist like Mac 'n Cheese with Lamb Bacon, Duck Foie Gras, Root Beer Glazed Pork Loin, Butternut Squash Lasagna, and so much more.

Every dining experience is custom by client, so our team will work with you to create an exceptional dining experience that complements your event. We are happy to accommodate special diets, allergies or genre requests.

How does a custom menu work?
We will meet with you to learn more about your event, your expectations and your food preferences. Keeping all this in mind, we will help you create a menu that works seamlessly with your event. For a wedding, we might ask you about family traditions and favorites and ask you both to describe the perfect "last meal." For themed corporate events, we can create an entire food experience that aligns with your theme.

Does my event have to meet any minimum requirements for catering services?
We try not to set a minimum, however, during busy holiday seasons, SXSW, etc we do restrict the types of events we are able to commit to due to the high demand for our services. Subject to availability, we serve all over Austin, Texas and surrounding areas, which includes a delivery charge based on zip code.

If my event is for a nonprofit organization or charity, do you provide any discount or offer donated services?
We love the nonprofits that we are able to partner with; they are truly inspiring to us and are such a joy for us to serve. Although we would love to support every organization that reaches out us, we are unable to do so. However, we do commit to working with your organization's budget for each event and promise to provide the best value for food and service.

What types of clients have you worked with?
We believe our clients should be our partners, and we are honored to be the preferred caterer for many of these partners. There's not enough room to list all of the companies and organizations we have partnered with but a few notable partnerships include Zach Scott Theatre, the Austonian, eBay, ACL Live, Texas State Bar, UT Law School and 20+ other UT Graduate Programs, First Evangelical Free Church, Austin Stone Community Church, HBA of Austin, and Tesla Motors.

Do you have a menu or price list that I can review?
Every event is unique, and we create a custom experience tailored to each client and ever event. We can provide you with a list of popular items with pricing, but please note that these items are subject to seasonal availability. In addition, we can provide you with sample menus from past events to provide inspiration.

Where can I taste your food?
We offer on-site tastings. These tasting experiences are subject to a fee due to their completely custom nature. See below for more information.

Do you provide tastings?
We have developed a complete tasting experience for our clients. We will have an initial meeting with you to discuss your tastes and event needs, then we create a specialized tasting experience for two guests that includes a custom menu served in a mini-version of the dining environment you're interested in, whether plated, buffet, passed, etc. We do charge a fee to provide these tastings, simply to cover our costs. If you choose us as your event caterer, this fee will be credited to your invoice.

What is a service fee?
The service fee is an industry standard charge placed on food, beverage, alcohol, rentals, and service to cover the administrative cost of planning and coordinating the array of products and services for each event.

Do you provide rentals such as dishware, glassware, and/or place settings?
We are happy to coordinate and customize rental orders for you. We have a vast array of rental items in-house and if needed, are able to manage and coordinate outside rentals for you through our long-term rental partners Loot Rentals & Premiere Events.

Why do you need our budget?
We provide a full-service experience, which means we will tailor every service to perfectly capture your vision for the event. In order to know the range of services we will need to provide to successfully match available items to your proposal, we need a financial range to work within. This helps us be most efficient with your resources while giving you the full value for your money. Additionally, this allows us to itemize your bid so that you can tell us which components are vital to you and which are not, and we can adjust the proposal accordingly.

What if I don't see my event mentioned?
It is impossible for us to list every type of event that may require our services. If you don't see your event type listed, we'd love to hear from you! Simply tell us the occasion and the experience you'd like to create and we are happy to help you plan.
